Middle School Art Club
grades 6-8
Middle-School Art Club will continue through the end of the school year! This class will be taught by Mx. Constance Speer, our middle-school's new art teacher. Planned art activities include screen printing and mural painting. Artists of all abilities welcome! Cost = Free (Funded by PTA)

Cartooning
grades K-5
Cartooning is a unique activity that improves artistic ability and teaches storytelling techniques, as it helps kids express ideas visually and in sequence. Our program keeps it simple by teaching children how to create cartoon characters step-by-step, with themes ranging from sea creatures to geometric shapes! Cost = $120
Tuesdays
Origami
grades K-5
After-school Origami introduces students to the Japanese art of paper folding. An expert instructor from Strategic Kids will guide students step-by-step as they develop patience and precision. Great for beginners, with extra challenges for returning students, Origami provides hands-on, engaging fun. Recommended for grades K-5.
Wednesdays
Garden Club
grades 1-4
Come learn about growing food and flowers in our school learning garden! Students will plant seeds and harvest some of what they grow! We'll cover topics like soil health, plant parts, the life cycle and more. This session will be led by Nicole Parish, an environmental educator from Seattle Parks and Recreation. Let’s get digging! Cost = Free (funded by PTA)
Wednesdays
Art Wizards
grades K-5
Art Wizards allows students to practice and develop their drawing skills. With a different focus each week (birds, sea animals, people, landscapes, cartoon characters, mythical creatures...), our veteran instructor helps students build confidence and unlock their creativity. Cost = $150
Thursdays
Chess
grades K-5
After-school Chess teaches students the rules and strategies of the game. With new lessons each session, friendly gameplay, and group discussions about chess tactics and timing, this after-school opportunity is fun for beginners and seasoned players alike. Cost = $126
Mondays
STEM Club
Grades 3-5
Students will have fun learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts using kits from the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Students will develop knowledge and skills in biology and coding to explore how robots can be used to solve problems. Monday club will be led by 3rd-grade teacher, Mr. Lee.
Cost= Free (funded by PTA)

Grades K-2
Students will have fun learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts using kits from the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Students will develop knowledge and skills in biology, physiology, and circuitry. Tuesday club will be led by 2nd-grade teacher, Ms. J.

Yes! If the lottery selects one of your children, we will automatically select your other children.

This is a new plan we are trying this year to increase accessibility and equity for all families. Some families are not able to sign up right away and we still want their children to participate. We will randomly select participants when we close the lottery, and then families will be notified via email or text.

Yes! The PTA would love to give out scholarships to cover part of the tuition for the parent-paid activities. Please reach out to enrichment@broadviewthomsonpts.com.

If your child does not receive a spot during this round of after-school activities, we will make every effort to select them in the next round. i.e., if they do not get to participate in fall drama club, we will try our best to include them in winter drama club.

Many of the activities will be offered several times per year, and some will change slightly. For example, 4th-8th-grade drama club may turn into preparation for the school musical production in the spring.
